We have identified a common issue with the 5110 and 5210 controllers when in use with VDO type senders that we felt was worthy of a post to offer some assistance in rectifying this problem. It may or may not also apply to other controlers of other makes and models.
In some cases, oil pressure problems may be experienced when starting the engine.
In such cases, you should check the resistance between the oil pressure sender and the battery negative and there should be a value of approximately 0 Ohms while the engine is at rest.
A value higher than this showing an open circuit reading will indicate the sender has possibly failed. Note that the engine must be at rest to perform this test and the module sender connections should be unplugged.
