    Default Generator Grounding

I am wondering if it is necessary to have an isolated ground on the starter as well as if it is not possible to use certain types of sending units on a generator's engine because of the fact that the neutral is bonded and to ground and so is the frame of the generator. Could this cause probles?

Many people bond the Neutal to ground in instalations and as far as I can recal we have never had any issues with senders not working.

    Have you had a problem?

We normally use senders that vary with resistance, but you can also get senders that vary a voltage. These senders would normally not be returned via ground and instead would have an insulated return.

if you are experiencing problems, then you could use a sender with an insulated return.

Insulated return starters are more common in Marine applications, most industrial applications return via ground.
