    Oh dear (

That was a fairly major purchase! I would go back to the manufacturer. Are they a big company or a little place producing only a few units a month?
Firstly, have they ever had their fuel system approved by Perkins or their local dealer?
Did they replace the fuel pumps under warranty when they failed? or did the agent?

I would have thought when you called the agent under warranty they would have said it was too small? Did they not say anything about it?
Was it a one off purchase or part of a sustained project? If they don't do things correctly avoid in future.

    to give an update:

We have changed all fuel pipes on all the sets we have.
The situation is better now but the fuel pump is still one of the weakest parts on the machine and in our total fleet.
What is the expected life time of this pump in run hours?

We are a generator hire company so we have no total control on what our customers do with these machines.
We experience a higher chance of breakdown after a customer drops without of fuel.
We do not have a low fuel alarm on the internal tank. however we see no solution in this since we also use external fuel tanks.

anybody with experience on these 1104 engines in larger quantities and 24/24 utilistation and how to avoid the pump problem?

There is a new pump out on the 1103/1104 engines now along with a new filter head (which no longer has the pump in it). I would order a filter head and a new pump for the 1103/1104's you have which should help to fix it.

    Hi there

I believe the part numbers you require are as follows:

    1 x 3583A053 - Pump/regulator/connector/electrical flylead
    1 x 4132A022 - Filter (3 cylinder) or 4132A021 (4 cylinder)
    1 x 3763A045 - Quick fit connector- fuel outlet
    2 x 2481D162 - Mounting brackets

You may need some fitting instructions which are available on Perkins bulletin A1/30/10 or enquire at sales@wellandpower.net

    Best of luck

    Gary
