    Sir,

This is to inform you that an abnormal sound observed from the top of the
engine from one out of 2 gensets installed, Rawalpindi. Its tappet
clearance checked and adjusted but the sound is still persisting.

Kindly look in to the matter and take immediate action to resolve the
    problem as soon as possible.

    Regards.

Please ask Perkins to come and look at it.

Is it on load? Off load?

Where is the noise coming from?

Is the starter motor jammed in? This is the most common noises I have heard.

I would suggest maybe starting a thread to help and get as many people's
    input as possible.

    They are still listed.

I have noticed you have not started a support thread, please do so as it
will enable us to assist you better.

When you say the rear, you mean the Non Drive End? or the drive end?

Is the set still running and producing power?

We have two Gensets Series 2806Perkins Rating 635KVA installed at Rawalpindi. Unfortunatly one out of above is producing
abnormal sound from top of the engine. Its running hour is about 90hrs.

You are therefore request to please depute your representative to resolve
    the issue.

Your early response in this regard will be highly appreciated.

The findings and observations indicate highly improper critical and unscheduled maintenance settings on the genset .
The valve lash clearance were out of tolerance by as much as 65% and was entirely unscheduled activity as the first such maintenance activity is recommended to be conducted by OEM at 900 operation hours. As such erratic settings can cause major damages to the engine as per the warranty clauses such practices makes the warranty of the genset void.
We shall request special warranty consideration in this regard.
However we can assist you in conducting certain further checks which are recommended to commence the rectifications necessary.

You shall be forwarded a quotation from our North Regional Office for the works and services to be provided. Should the warranty be accepted upon our special request ,these payments shall be reimbursed to you in full.

    Trust that this is satisfactory,
