Welland Launches New Website

Welland has launched its new website. This article explains in more detail about the new site and how this site benefits customers, supplier and our company. It also give some brief technical specifications for those who are interested.

Welland Engineering has been developing and taking steps towards this current launch for a number of years, initially with the launch of our first website over 5 years ago. The strong focused site spans multiple domains, with portals for customers, suppliers and staff to interface with our systems from anywhere in the world. At the heart of the new site is Welland Power Manufacturing Management (WPMM), this innovation in the development of the company has allowed us to fully realize the benefits of an advanced IT infrastructure. Designed from the beginning by our employees, it has been built and compiled in house to fit in with our business model and allow all interested parties to interact with transactions. Some of the features at the time of writing include:
  • Full Customer views of all current and past shipments, live on the internet.
  • Live Status updates of all sets as they progress through our workshop, which has now been equipped with CTX touch screen displays.
  • Electronic Order Confirmations and Fast Track Acknowledgement confirmations.
  • Online end-user set tracking, they can use the set number to track production of the item if required.
This system is unique within our industry and the technology allows us to offer better levels of service to all of our customers. By providing 24 hour access to vital information, which is especially supportive when the customer is out of our main time zone, we are able to provide an interface that we believe leads our industry. You are allocated a username and password when you place your first order. With this you can access all of our systems to allow you to manage your orders. The options available are always being updated to allow our customers more control over the account. For more details of our systems, please speak to one of our sales engineers who will be able to assist you further. Technical Details

WPMM is hosted in house and has been designed and built by Charlie Farrow with design input support from all members of staff. The system is housed on a server running Intel Pentium processors. The web server we use is the worlds leading web server, APACHE. Apache serves all the pages, most of which are written in PHP (another leading scripting language). We also run a database server, again for this task we chose mySQL the worlds leading open source database. MySQL running on our database server is currently able to perform over 10,000 transactions per second and we hope to expand this to well over 100,000 in the near future.
