    Question Perkins 1104C-44TAG2 Engine

    Hi,

I have a Perkins 1104C-44TAG2 engine. Its running at 1950 RPM.
There is nowhere to reduce the speed as it has an electronic govonor.

    Whats the matter with it?

The 1104C-44TAG2 engine, like the 1006TAG and 1006TAG2 has an electronic govonor that uses the magnetic pickup to read the engine speed.

If the 1104C has no input, it usually won't start.
If it has an incorrect input, it may well run at this speed.

    Two checks:

Check you have around 3V AC coming from the magnetic pickup.
If not, remove it, inspect it.

If it is damaged, replace it. If its OK, refit.

Screw all the way into the block until it stops. Then take out about one turn.
    Test again.
If you have 3V, thats fine. If not, turn in around another 1/4 and repeat.

if you go too far in, the flywheel will tear off the end of the mag pickup and you will need to replace it! (Around £140).
If you are not in far enough, your engine will not run correctly.
