    Default Electrical control unit

    what is the purpose of the 12 volts EIM ?
    what does the four leds in it indicate?
    Is the oil pressure sender different from the oil pressure switch making two seperate items?
    where can i get the documentation for the 12v eim basic mk3 part no 258 -9753?

    By EIM you mean ECU - ie Electronic Control Unit?
    I think it depends on how it is wired by the OEM.
    An oil presure switch is different to an oil presure sender. The sender projects the oil pressure electrically, normally as a resistance value. This is used to produce a gauge reading normally.
    The switch is simply an open and closed electical switch device. This normally closes on a low oil presure condition (which is also the case at rest). It is mostly used for shutdowns to prevent the engine running on a low oil presure condition.

    It is technically possible to use the sender and not fit a switch if your controller will accept the sender input and use it for shutdown, however it is not normally recomended as oil presure switches are much more reliable in our experience and hence the switch is much better as a protection device.

    The last two answered. I sure need answers to the first two questions soonest. Really what do the symbols on the unit stand for?
