    Question DSE3110, ECM signal

WV250 Genset, DSE3110 control module, showing a signal (ECM signal; CAN ECU shut down) and Gen-set is shutting down every after 20 to 30 minutes.

We have installed the unit almost 3 months ago and since then it was running in good condition.

Can you please advice, what’s happen the unit?

it could be a number of things:

Loose connection on the CAN wires.
Something inducing a current and damaging the signal.

After this amount of time, it is possible that there is something happening to the engine that is not caught by the ECU and the engine is shutting down, leaving the controller with this message.

It would appear the Volvo EMS2 ECU which is fitted to the TAD734GE is giving a shutdown red flag alarm to the 3110 to say the ECU has stopped the engine. The red flag from the Volvo EMS2 will contain a fault code which is retrievable via Volvo vodia tool to tell you why the ECU has stopped the engine. The 3110 does not display these codes being the most basic controller in our range.

The 3110 is displaying that the ECU has stopped the engine and given a shutdown code which now needs to be read ‘CAN ECU shutdown’. Please make sure you have configured the 3110 correctly for the Volvo ECU type as shown below in case you have the wrong engine file type configured. If this is all correct then you will need to contact Volvo to read the fault code from the ECU to determine why the ECU has stopped the engine as the 3110 is indicating the alarm for this as it should.
