The DSE 5110 does not support parallel operation, so you cannot I am afraid.

Hello Charlie, i'm sorry, we have DSE 5510. Do i need to configure all settings at each generator set, like nominal values , phase sequence, etc? Or just enabling sync if i start generator rated as #1 priority, the other will sync to it? Also the question before, is it possible to change all values via computer just connecting one generator to it?

    Thanks for your reply.

OK, so you have a controller that is sync capable, but do you have all the other things?
-- A control panel that has been designed for synchronising? This includes:
---- An interface to the automatic breaker you are using
---- Interface to control engine speed
---- Interface to control the AVR
---- Droop CTs in the alternators
    -- The automatic circuit breakers?
-- An engine that will take a speed input?
-- An alternator with an AVR that will take a remote voltage trim?

You need all of the correct equipment to start with, without it, you will not be able to get it to work.
Who made the generators? Did they come with the DSE 5510 panels and were they sold for synchronising use? Why didn't they set them up for you?

You cannot change all the generators by connecting the PC as far as I know, you may be able to by buying some DSE NET equipment however.

Hello Charlie, we didn't solve it yet. We are trying to reach our generator reseller to check this items. But it seems that we have all this items to sync it.

I'm almost sure, i'm just checking the item about droop ct's in the alternator. As i'm just starting to study our project will take a little bit more time, thank you for your support.

I understood that we need to sync all generators before close to the bus, but looking at software configs i didn't find where to set the values when in sync, should i need to set all nominal values to it, or just the generator priority one need to have their frequency, pf set?

Another thing that i didn't get at Software Manual:

    We can set the

    At ) re-calibrate-> sync+load control -> load levels

KVAr control: The amount of reactive power that the set will
produce when used in ‘load level control’ or the PF

But them at EditConfig->Sync /Load Control-> Load Control

We can also set how much should be the Full Load and Full reactive power. Is this last setting just to control the load sharing scheme?

Yes the last settings will control the load sharing scheme.
Yes you need to set the nominals - the set will try and reach these as they run, prior to attempting sync.

You can get the manuals for these controllers if you have all the equipment from the deepsea website!

Also, I assume these are not brand new? As they have the 5000 series controllers and now the 8610 is normally used and before that the 7510.

    Regards

Thanks Charlie, yes these generators were bought some years ago. Do you use load banks to test it? Here we use water with salt to test but i think that we will not be able to test load even with 2 generators (500kva each). We will need to rent it or to buy it. Is 8610 worth the money to change? What are their advantages?

    Best regards,

I am not sure they are worth swapping, the new controllers are very good and quicker to set up in my experience.
It depends how old they are and how reliable you want them to be. The DSE 5510 was a good reliable controller and it might require some panel rewiring, so maybe its better as is.

You really need some reactive load to test your sync sets, so if you can hire a reactive load bank.

The most important thing is to follow the four steps in the DSE manuals to get them just right and you should have no problems.

Hello, i would like to know which type of distribution board panel should be used? Is there any type of protection breaker that should be used? Or the protection by each generator breaker is enough to just connect them at the bus ?
