Welland Power is pleased to announce the presentation of the Queens award for International Trade. The Queen's Award for International Trade is awarded for growth and commercial success in international trade and this year Welland Power was very proud to be acknowledged as one of the award's recipients.

Entrants to the Queen's Award come from all sections of the UK: The majority of winning companies have below 250 employees but there are also larger companies who have won. The minimum size of an eligible company is two full-time employees.

The Queen’s Award is valid for five years. Winning organisations will benefit from:

  • flying the Queen’s Award flag at their principal premises,
  • use of the Emblem on their stationery, advertising and goods. Commemorative articles can be given to employees
  • global recognition and added commercial value for your business
  • an edge over the competition and new business opportunities
  • a boost to your staff morale and company pride

As a fast growing, dynamic business, Welland Power were pleased to be presented with the Queen's Award in the International Trade category, on Friday 26th October 2018. The award was made by Mr Toby Dennis, Lord-Lieutenant and High Sheriff, and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II representative in Lincolnshire. All available members of Welland Power's staff were in attendance to mark the occasion alongside some of the company's key suppliers; such as Stamford AVK Alternators and the UK distributor of Perkins Electro Pak engines - DiPerk as well as the company's parts suppliers and shipping contractors.

Managing Director Charlie Farrow had attended Buckingham Palace earlier in the year to receive the award in person from his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales but this occasion marked the formal recognition to the company.

It’s the latest of many accolades for the company owned by the Farrow family who have been involved in engineering since the early 1910s with Welland Engineering Co starting in 1950. Through incredible hard work from all the staff and brave and forward thinking investment decisions taken by the management team Welland Power has capitalised upon more advantageous international trading conditions to deliver exponential growth in turnover and profitability.

Having recently also been recognised as one of the fastest growing UK companies in the Virgin and Sunday Times Fast Track 100 awards it would not be boasting to describe Welland Power as a company at the forefront of UK manufacturing, international trade and economic growth.

Sales Director Oliver Peacock felt that despite the incredible expansion Welland Power has already seen, the addition of the queens award could yet still be a springboard for further growth and opportunity ' I have been with the company for 6 years and the transformation within Welland Power during that period is sometimes hard to quantify and accept. Days like today really do allow you time to reflect, everyone should be incredibly proud of their hard work that has led to this award'.

The Queens award will be available to the company to use on the Welland Power products for a period of 5 years and will be a fantastic association for the business. It will be marked on all Welland Power products for this period and stands as a Kite Mark for the success of Welland Power and the fantastic high quality UK manufactured generating sets the company manufactures.

Managing Director, Charles Farrow said "It's a reflection of all the hard work everyone at Welland Power puts in daily to ensure that our customers receive the very best service we can provide. The recognition from this prestigious award has given us the confidence to expand again, expanding our warehouse by 50% and our generator production area by 100%. Our site is over 250,000sqft and we hope to continue the growth in the next few years, we have yet more exciting expansion plans ahead to help all our customers get ahead of their competitors."
