Welland Power welcomes new dealer in the Caribbean

Welland Power is pleased to announce that a new Bahamas based dealership has been appointed to represent the company in the Caribbean.

Located in Nassau, Carib generators excels in providing bespoke solutions unique to the requirements of the Caribbean. At Carib generators the need of the customer is paramount and the flexibility of working with a company such as Welland Power, where all design and manufacture of base frames, canopies, extended base tanks and enclosures is handled internally and on one site is very exciting.

The climate of the area is tropical, varying from tropical rainforest in some areas to tropical monsoon and tropical savanna in others. There are also some locations that are arid climates with considerable drought in some years, and the peaks of mountains tend to have cooler temperate climates.

Rainfall varies with elevation, size and water currents, such as the cool upwellings that keep the ABC islands arid. Warm, moist trade winds blow consistently from the east, creating both rain forest and semi arid climates across the region. The tropical rainforest climates include lowland areas near the Caribbean Sea from Costa Rica north to Belize, as well as the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, while the more seasonal dry tropical savanna climates are found in Cuba, northern Colombia and Venezuela, and southern Yucatán, Mexico. Arid climates are found along the extreme northern coast of Venezuela out to the islands including Aruba and Curacao, as well as the northwestern tip of Yucatán.

Managing Director of Carib Power - Patrick Petty stated

Having always been based in Nassau, The Bahamas, we understand from decades of experience which generator features are best suited for the region. We are OEM partners with major U.K. Perkins, Cummins, MTU, Isuzu, Volvo, Deutz, and Kabuto generator manufacturers, specializing in customized 9kva to 3250kva diesel generators to meet the specifications of individual customers and delivering turnkey power solutions to any major seaport. After your power system is installed, look to us for all your service, parts, and maintenance needs.

The Caribbean market is unique in as much as each island is a state in it's own right with different frequencies, voltages and reliability of mains power supply and infrastructure. Our customers are experienced in the use of backup power solutions and they put a high value upon dependability and reliability of their generators. No matter where you are in the Caribbean the generators will be subjected to a high moisture and salt air, so corrosion resistance, stainless steel construction canopies and strength of build are paramount. In addition we must consider the potential for long power outage following a hurricane which is why extremely strong canopies and vast extended base tanks are key factors in the decision making process.

The opportunity to partner with Welland Power was simply not an opportunity to be missed. For every question we had they had a solution, their ability to literally build the machine to spec and back it up with genuine Perkins UK and Stamford AVK alternators and international warranties was genuinely appealing.

We look forward to promoting the Welland Power brand throughout the Caribbean.

Welland Power will be supporting Carib Generators to provide customers with cost effective yet high quality solutions with the Welland Perkins and Baudouin marine derived generators at the forefront of the company's future.

Welland Power has already began prototyping specific product for the Caribbean and the ability to build extended base tanks that relate to a specific run time for the output of the particular engine is a highly desirable point for sale.

Welland Power has also previously built stainless steel canopies and the opportunity to do this for a new market is welcome. The standard canopies are currently undergoing an evaluative salt spray testing regime and development program to maximise corrosion resistance which will be put to the test in the harsh Caribbean climate.
