About Angola
Angola is located on the west coast of south central Africa with a capital city of Luanda. The official spoken language is Portuguese however there are three other co-official languages in Kikongo, Kimbundu and Umbundu. Angola has a great potential for renewable energy via wind, solar or hydropower throughout the country but its grid infrastructure needs addressing first.

Angola Grid Coverage
In Angola the grid runs at a frequency of 50Hz, this is the same frequency as most of Europe. The Voltage in Angola is 380V for three phase and 230V for single phase. The transmission infrastructure is thought to be one of the least efficient in Africa due to the fact it's made up of three separate grid systems however there are plans to link all these together by 2025.
In Angola the socket type used is type C (pictured below), which is also compatible with type F.
As of 2017, the Angola grid reached 41.9% of its population with a target to reach 60% by 2025. This will be achieved by increasing the access rate in rural areas which is currently only at 8 percent increasing the access rate will help boost and diversify the economy. Due to the current poor access rates a lot of people and businesses have to rely on diesel generators for their power.
