Welland Net Zero
Welland Power leads the way in terms of our carbon commitments. Our 2020 goal of halving our carbon footprint has already been achieved by the move to green energy. We have 320kWp of solar on our factory roof and all our imported energy comes from green sources. While we design our products to be reliable and perform to the highest standards, we source our components from sustainable companies, prioritise recycled and non-toxic materials, while competing he process by recycling as much of our waste as possible.
Only Green Electricity
It all starts in our manufacturing facility, where we have over 320kW of solar panels on our roof generating the bulk of our energy needs. The small balance comes from the grid from 100% renewable sources - we now only use around 150,000kWh from the grid - so 100% is currently renewable electricity!
Reduced Water Usage
The reduction in our use of water over the last 10 years. We now consume less than £1000 of water - or around 250m3 per year for our whole factory! Waterless systems have reduced wasted consumption while recycling has also reduced product costs. Reducing waste is key for a competitive sustainable future.
Solid Waste Recycling
We hate waste! We have reduced our solid as much as possible by trying to reduce our suppliers use of plastic - but we estimate we recycle 98% of all our solid waste by weight! This is a huge commitment to a sustainable future. All wood, paper, metals and plastic are recycled where possible.
Exporting For Everyone
Our powerful solar array can produce over three times our peak demand. This excess is exported to the grid to help power other applications using our carbon free energy. We export about 200,000kWH enough energy per year to power over 200 local homes in addition to supplying our own factory.
